Dot.

Dot. The world's smallest stop-motion animation character shot on a Nokia N8. Such a lovely way of promoting something as dry as a phone.

James Blake - Limit To Your Love

James Blake - Limit To Your Love from James Blake on Vimeo.

" James Blake manages to produce a work that sounds both fresh, inspired and innovative yet somehow timelessly familiar.

Hinged on a simple repeated piano riff and Blakes' soulful, husky vocals, LIMIT TO YOUR LOVE is a lesson in sparseness and space, this someone unafraid to leave breathing room in his music, sometimes even sizable moments of silence. Broken up by the occasional dub bass rumble and trip hopping drum interruption, this is the sound of someone out there doing his own thing; an unfortunate rarity these days. With a vocal style somewhere between Ray Lamontagne and Antony Hegarty, James Blake delivers his lines in deliciously soulful ways; singing of “maps with no oceans” and “waterfalls in slow motion”, matching poetically charged imagery to the sonics."

LOVE FOR...Tim Walker

From the first image I saw of Walkers I loved his blurring of fantasy and reality, playfulness, delicacy, theatrical settings, textures, and imagination. The images take a lot of the pretention out of fashion for me...

'Tim Walker - Pictures' ....Such a captivating book, already a fan of Tim Walker's work, I could not believe just how much of an insight you are given into Walker's inspiration and methods of working. I saw that someone had written in a review, "It's huge in size and heavy in weight, so you can't just flick through it - you are aware of the effort of turning each page. And each page produces a new surprise or delight." I love that its not a little flick-book, and that you are required to donate time to flicking through it, but then in return you are rewarded with an insight into Walker's creative train of thought.

lee paton...london fashion week sept 2010...

collection inspired by poem...
"The Rime of the Ancient Mariner"

http://www.leepaton.co.uk/

loved this collection...really delicate.
the show seemed to follow quite a dark stroryline.
love how its connection to the sea was more involved around pearls, textures and felt traditioanlly english... rather than following anchors, stripes, etc.

i fell in love with lee's collections after working at his show showing his summer 2010 collection "A Summer Since Passed".

"The collection - "A Summer Since Passed" - is based on old English summers of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. I read a lot of Victorian literature, which has inspired the characters wearing the garments, along with Peter Weir’s film ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’ and Renoir’s ‘Le déjeuner des canotiers’."

the venue, wilton's music hall, with 'hendricks gin' attending the bar made for a perfect setting for the collection.

things i'm liking looking at

////THE CORRESPONDANTS////

a mini tribute to those responsible for a tiptop summer…

“MC Mr Bruce and Mr Chuckles collaborate to make Hip Hop for the 1930s, Big Band music for the 00s. Splicing swing samples with squelchy synths over dusty drum loops they’ve depicted a modern day journey into time of rogue’s, lust, affordable clowns and foot-tapping toe curling "get your brogues on" dance floor swing beat.”

once I started to think about how i was going to package the one minute animation i had made (see next post),
i started to develop it into something that will add more information about me as a designer.

I wanted to create something that was a little interactive.
something that would create more interest than your standard paper CV.

me in one minute

this brief was asking us to create something that was one minute long.
